Browser extension

Install the Chrome, Edge, or Brave extension and send downloads to the AVS Mac app.

The AVS browser extension works with Chrome, Edge, and Brave. It detects downloads and page media, then hands them to the native Mac app over native messaging.

Install the extension

  1. Install and open AVS Download Manager on your Mac.
  2. Open the Chrome Web Store listing from the website or the in-app prompt.
  3. Click Add to Chrome (Edge/Brave use the same store listing).
  4. Confirm the extension permissions.

Keep AVS running while you browse. If the app is quit, the extension cannot deliver captures.

How capture works

  1. You start a download or open a supported video page.
  2. The extension detects the request or media.
  3. Native messaging sends the job to AVS.
  4. The download appears in your AVS library with the usual pause/resume controls.

You can also paste a URL directly into AVS if you prefer not to use the extension for a one-off link.

Tips

  • Allow the extension on the sites you care about if the browser asks for site access.
  • One Mac app — do not run multiple conflicting download managers hooked to the same browser if you want clean capture.
  • Firewall / security tools rarely block native messaging, but if captures fail, check that AVS is not quarantined.

Privacy
