Direct URLs, multi-part acceleration, pause, resume, scheduling, speed limits, and proxy in AVS.

AVS speeds up direct file downloads with multi-part, multi-connection transfers. You can paste a URL, capture from the browser extension, pause and resume, schedule jobs, cap speed, or route through a proxy.

Start a download

  1. Open AVS Download Manager.
  2. Paste a direct URL into the new-download field, or let the extension send the link.
  3. Confirm the save location if prompted.
  4. Watch the job in your library — progress, speed, and remaining time update live.

Direct links that point at a single file (installers, ZIPs, media files, documents) work best. For YouTube, playlists, streams, or torrents, use the dedicated guides linked below.

Multi-part acceleration

Large files can use several connections at once. AVS splits the transfer and reassembles the file on disk. On some servers this is much faster than a single browser download; on others the host limits parallel connections, so speed may match the browser.

You do not need to configure part counts for everyday use — the defaults are fine for most transfers.

Pause, resume, and schedule

  • Pause — stop a job without losing progress (when the server supports resume).
  • Resume — continue from where you left off.
  • Schedule — start downloads later (for example overnight or off-peak).
  • Speed limit — keep bandwidth free for calls or streaming.
  • Proxy — route transfers when your network requires it (see Settings).

Library tips

  • Use categories or folders in the library to keep work, media, and archives separate.
  • Failed jobs often recover with Retry after a short wait, or by pasting the URL again.
  • Keep enough free disk space; incomplete multi-part jobs need room to finish.
