Motrix Alternative for Mac
Motrix made aria2 easy: a clean queue, multi-connection HTTP and BitTorrent on every desktop OS. It is not a YouTube downloader and it is not a converter. That gap is why Mac users look for an alternative.
What Motrix does well
- aria2 under the hood — fast, reliable transfers
- Magnet links and .torrent files
- Open source, same app on Mac, Windows and Linux
What it leaves out
There is no first-class YouTube or playlist flow, no HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) / Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH) capture, and no media converter. Browser hand-off is limited compared with a dedicated extension. AVS Download Manager covers those jobs in a native macOS 14+ app.
When AVS is the better Motrix alternative
Pick AVS if you want files, playlists, streams and conversion in one free Mac App Store app. Stay with Motrix if you specifically want an aria2 GUI or you already pair it with a separate video tool.
